For many years I, as many others, have questioned our town of Madawaska's politics. However, without attending many meetings over a period of years, one cannot fully understand what is truly going on, either because of poor or no reporting from our local newspaper and intentional lack of transparency from local politicians.
Because of what we have experienced dealing with town officials, I have created this blog which is intended to inform and enlighten anyone interested as to what is truly happening in our small town politics.
Over time, I will post a history of our involvement and personal experience over a period of many years as a citizen and small business owner as well as a concerned citizen involved in direct dealing with our town officials.
I encourage everyone interested in local politics to visit this blog and if so inclined to participate in constuctive discussions.

Has the town and region made plans for the inevitable closing of the mill?
No. Selectman Chairman Mike Violette does not want to suggest or even discuss possible mill closing. This is consistant with past selectmen who are in denial of this happening, therefore, they are not preparing the town for this possablility.
Failing to plan is planning to fail. Perhaps Mike Violette should talk to other former paper mill communities that once thought like he does. That is what you get with a mill town mentality and union upbringing. Sticking your head in the sand may be an option, but it is not a solution.
So what will come of Madawaska after the mill closes? How will the people there now survive without a plan in place?
The possibility of the mill closing has been brought out by me to the selectmen. They intentionally ignore that fact and do not want to discuss it. Our selectmen Chairmen Richard Dionne and Mike Violette have intentionally denied the people of Madawaska much important information such as the $100,000 dollars spent in court against Richard Cayer and lost all four cases. They are now at the Supreme Court and have kept silent on this as well. Oh,and our local newspaper that enjoyed what was happening in Van Buren last year, also refuses to publish somthing as important as a pending contempt of court against the Town of Madawaska in Supreme Court. So much for freedom of the press.
